A 61 year old stepfather is expected to make a brief appearance before the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court following an allegation of rape. It is alleged that on Saturday, 31 August, he fastened the hands of his 16 year old step daughter with a waist belt and raped her.
The step-daughter together with her younger brother went to their stepfather and asked him to provide them money. Instead of giving them money he took money and sent the victim’s brother away to go and buy beer for him, while he remained with the step-daughter and raped her inside the shack in Snake Park, Galeshewe.
The Northern Cape Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Major General Koliswa Otola condemned the stepfather’s barbaric act in strongest terms. “Men are expected to protect their families but not to harm them”, she said.
