On 25 February 2019, at De Aar Regional Court where a 49 year old stepfather was sentenced to 25 years for the rape of his 14 year old step daughter. The rapes’ took place in Noupoort between 2015 and 2016 and was brought to light when the victim fell pregnant.
The stepfather was linked with DNA and the intense detective work of D/Sgt Ilse Fan ensured the sentencing.
The Northern Cape Provincial Head for FCS units, Brig Nicky Mills hereby thanked all the investigation officers in De Aar and surrounding areas for their commitment. The convictions result in justice for the victims concerned and the community feel safer when the perpetrators are incarcerated. It also sends out a stern message that one of SAPS main priorities is the protection of women and children.”
