Six armed robbers arrested, supermarket robbery, Galeshewe

Members of Northern Cape SAPS Trio Crime Unit, Crime Intelligence Unit, Flying Squad and Galeshewe Visible Policing Unit followed up on information on a business robbery that took place at a supermarket in Galeshewe and arrested six male suspects.

On Tuesday, 24 April 2018 at about 17:00, seven or more suspects entered the supermarket with firearms and knives. The suspects allegedly threatened the owners, fired one shot inside the premises and demanded money. The suspects managed to flee the scene with a substantial amount of money and cellphones.

Police responded in a flash and managed the arrest six males at about 02:00 this morning in Galeshewe.

Police also managed to retrieve one 9mm firearm, ammunition, 23 cell phones and cash. Two of the cell phones are IPhones belonging to the supermarket owners. The suspects should be appearing in the Galeshewe Magistrates’ Court soon and more arrests are expected.

The investigation continues.
