Crime Intelligence information and prompt response by TRT and POP Unit members foiled the theft of two trucks at Lunaka Sand and Bricks Company on Saturday night, 08 April 2017 at about 23:30.

A total of 8 suspects who allegedly conspired with the company security guard, stole a truck and the suspects were intercepted by police. During the arrest, the 59-year-old security guard stabbed and injured a TRT police officer when he attempted to flee. The captain’s firearm was also damaged in the process.

The police retaliated and the security guard was shot and injured and has been admitted in the local Hospital under police guard.

The police captain was also treated in Hospital and was later discharged yesterday morning, 09 April 2017.

The police managed to arrest another suspect at Vergenoeg in Galeshewe and the suspect is expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court today, 10 April 2017 pending further police investigations.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Risimati Peter Shivuri has commended the swift response of members on the speedy arrest of the suspects.
