On Tuesday, 22 October 2019 the police in Kuruman in partnership with Security companies; Boss, NKS and ACSB Reaction embarked on a joint operation. The aim of the operation was to help the police to fight crime.
During the operation, hotspot areas where trio crimes and contact crimes are most prevalent, were patrolled. The visibility of the police and the security companies aims to ensure that community members are safe and feel safe.
While these partners were busy with stop and searches, two men 25 and 30 were arrested for dealing in dagga during which 510 grams of dagga with a street value of R1394-00 was seized. The vehicle, a VW Golf, which was used for transportation of dagga was confiscated with an undisclosed amount of cash. Both suspects will appear before the local Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of dealing in dagga.
The Station Commander of Kuruman, Brigadier Kenneth Baloyi applauded and appreciated the security companies for availing themselves to strengthen the police efforts in fighting crime.
Furthermore more the Cluster Commander of JTG, Major General Johan Bean urged all other stakeholders to join hands to assist the police in the fight against crime. He alluded that such operations should be conducted in JTG Cluster as a whole. According to General Bean this best practice can be the best art or instrument which can make JTG a crime free cluster.
