During the termination of an intelligence led operation, “Operation Vat Alles” which commenced during the early hours of Friday, 2 November 2018 in the Frances Baard and John Taolo Gaetsewe Clusters numerous successes were achieved by the police during the execution of the operation. Numerous successes were achieved by the teams who executed the actions simultaneously in the three towns.

Three male suspects were arrested separately and goods worth approximately R3.5 million was confiscated by the Police.

Operation “Vat Alles” focused on the recovery of stolen or carjacked vehicles, illegal possession firearms and ammunition, stock theft and wildlife. The operation included visits to various residential addresses in Delportshoop, Kathu and Dingleton.

Various specialised units under the command of the John Taolo Gaetsewe Cluster Commander, Major General Johan Bean included personnel from the Frances Baard, John Toalo Gaetsewe and ZF Mgcawu offices, Crime Intelligence, Provincial Organised Crime, Vehicle Crime Investigation unit, TRT, Public Order Police, Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management, Trio Task Teams, Stock Theft units, tracking teams, K9 units , Provincial Corporate Communication and Provincial Legal Services who were part of the teams that executed search and seizures and arrests at the respective identified premises in the 3 towns.

The following confiscations and arrests were made in Delportshoop: one male suspect was arrested for possession of four unlicensed firearms and ammunition, seven alleged stolen vehicles, one alleged trailer seized and eight tortoises were confiscated and handed over to Nature Conservation. The 54 year old male suspect will appear on Monday, 5 November 2018 in the Barkly West Magistrates’ Court.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri expressed his delight in the number of successes achieved and stated that the police are reclaiming the space captured by criminals. He also stated that he is confident that these perpetrators will be brought to book as we continue to stamp the authority of the State. He warned criminals that he will not allow them to make a play ground of his province and police members will flush out all criminals. He also thanked all SAPS members who performed duties during the execution of this operation for their professional conduct and sterling crime detection and investigation.
