The Northern Cape High Court handed down a hefty sentence to Rumaco De Koker and Mpambaniso Sibabalo on 21 April 2022, for robbery with aggravating circumstances and murder.

On 15 August 2021, a case of robbery and murder was registered by the police in Rosedale following the discovery of the body of a male person who was found near Jurgenskamp in Rosedale.

The alleged perpetrators robbed the deceased of R15.00 and a loaf of bread. He was then stabbed in the neck during the struggle and subsequently succumbed to the injury.

The investigation led to the arrest of the two suspects two days later and they were charged with robbery and murder.

They were both sentenced to 10-years in prison for robbery and John De Kokker was further sentenced to 22-years for murder which will be served concurrently.

The SAPS in Rosedale welcomed this sentence and the investigating officer Sergeant Joey Visage was applauded by the management for a job well done.
