Members of the Hartswater Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit arrested a 26 year old man in connection with the rape of an 18 year old girl.
It is alleged on 5 February 2020, at about 17:00, the suspect met his ex-girlfriend while she was with her two male friends walking home from ABET classes.
The suspect reportedly pointed the victim with a firearm and her friends ran away. The victim was forced at gunpoint to the suspect’s home. The victim was allegedly raped and kept for two days. She was rescued on 7 February 2020.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the firearm used was a baby browning and has been seized by police.
The suspect is expected to appear before Kgomotso Magistrates Court on Monday, 10 February 2020 facing charges of rape, kidnapping and pointing of a firearm.
Police investigation continues.
