The Galeshewe police welcomes the 15 years imprisonment sentence handed down to a 21 year old rape accused. Elliot Riet was recently sentenced by the Kimberley Regional Court. He was further handed two years for housebreaking and 5 years for attempted rape.

Riet broke into a shanty on 2 February 2017, in the evening and raped a 36-year-old woman, he also attempted to rape a 31-year-old woman in February 2017.

He was arrested on 5 February 2017, after meticulous investigation by Detective Sergeant Lesego Oliphant.

The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Investigations (FCS) Commander, Lt Col Marli Strydom applauded the investigators, Detective Warrant Officer Zeph and Detective Sergeant Lesego Oliphant for the job well done.
