Randall Hughes (51) was found guilty on 20 charges in the Kimberley Magistrates Court on Thursday 14 November 2019. Kidnapping, theft of motor vehicle, robbery, rape and possession of stolen property are among the charges the accused is facing in court.
The accused committed all these crimes between 6 April and 28 June 2015 in Kimberley. The gold Toyota Corolla which he utilized in the commission of these crimes was found to be stolen in the Western Cape.
During these various criminal activities Hughes would pretend to be a good Samaritan, offering women lifts with the gold Toyota Corolla. Police found a number of cell phones and personal belongings of complainants at Hughes` house during a search conducted on 22 June 2015.
The sentencing is scheduled for next month and the accused is being held in custody.
