The SAPS Provincial Head of Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit, Brigadier Nicky Mills lauded Detective Sergeant Andrew Nhlati of Hartswater FCS Unit for the twenty years direct sentence he secured for a 26-year-old rapist.

On 27 February 2018, the 13-year-old female was on her way home when she was accosted by an unknown male. Gaopalelwe Bokkies and the victim had an altercation over her cellphone. She tried running away but was dragged into a nearby veld where she was raped by the accused.

The suspect was arrested and sentenced on 17 February 2021 for the rape. His particulars was also included in the National Register For Sex Offenders.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Henriette De Waal also reiterated that the SAPS will continue to fight crimes bordering on Gender Based Violence.
