The Provincial Head of the FCS units in the Northern Cape, Brigadier Nicky Mills applauded Warrant Officer Tebogo Nowalaza of the Kuruman FCS Unit for securing a harsh sentence for rapist Kabelo William Molumi recently in the Mothibistad Regional Court.

On 3 September 2019, between 10:30 and 21:30, the sister of the 25-year-old disabled female victim sent her (the victim) and a relative on an errand to her uncle in Ditshoshowaneng village. When the two did not arrive home, she went looking for them. The sister then received a call informing her that her sister was seen in the company of the accused.

She went to his home where she witnessed through a window the accused busy raping her sister and forced the door open. The incident was reported and the suspect was arrested.

The accused Kabelo Molumi, aged 66, was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm. His name was also recorded in the National Sexual Offences Register.

Captain Caren Nel, the Kuruman FCS Commander commended Warrant Officer Nowalaza for the meticulous and thorough investigation of the case resulting in the removal of the perpetrator from society.
