The SAPS management welcomes the lengthy sentence handed down to raped accused, Pedro Seekoei.

On 19 March 2020, the 17-year-old victim was walking to Modderiver when he was approached by the accused who then walked with him to Modderiver.

At a field near Modderiver, the accused then assaulted the victim until he fell to the ground, undressed the victim and raped him.

The victim informed his parents what happened, a case was opened, the accused was arrested and he abandoned his right to apply for bail.

On 12 July 2023, the Kimberley regional court convicted and sentenced 19 year old, Pedro Seekoei to ten years imprisonment and he was declared unfit to possess a firearm and instructed his name be entered into the national register of sex offenders.

The investigating office, Detective Sgt Moreetsemang Sakia Mogakwe was applauded by the Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Koliswa Otola for his dedication and hard work that saw the accused being convicted and sentenced for rape.
