R61 million 'Kathu Khumba Iron Ore' tender fraud, 4 accused in court

Four accused, Norton Carld Howard (43), Charles Moses Howard (56), Jezeral Selvin (39) and Kenshia Charlene Howard (36) made a brief appearance before the Kuruman Magistrates’ Court facing charges of fraud.

It is alleged that during April 2010, Norton Howard fraudulently used Kallies Business Enterprise CC credentials to bid for a tender advertised by Anglo American which is Kathu Khumba Iron Ore.

As a result of misrepresentation, he was awarded the tender of plant maintenance.

It is further alleged that in August 2018, he made a misrepresentation to CIPC. He submitted another fraudulent resolution to CIPC that the members of Kallies Enterprise resigned.

As a result, the membership of the close corporation was amended where the father and siblings of the suspect were added as new members of the entity. The predijuce to the complainant is R61 million.

Norton was granted R50 000-00 bail whereas the other accused were released on R30 000-00 bail each.

The matter was postponed to 3 November 2022 for further investigation.
