R550k worth of drugs recovered, woman arrested, Kimberley

The Frances Baard Crime Intelligence in Kimberley with the assistance of the Kimberley K9 Narcotics Section followed up on information of alleged drug dealing in Kimberley.

On Thursday, 30 September 2021 at approximately 19:00 police conducted duties and followed a Chevrolet bakkie from Connoly Street in Beaconsfield to Chris Hani Park in Galeshewe.

The bakkie was stopped close to the Galeshewe Day Hospital and the male driver jumped out and fled the scene. Police searched the vehicle and found 23 bags of normal and high grade dagga with 3764 Mandrax tablets stashed inside and arrested the 38-year-old female passenger.

The police also confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash and the Chevrolet bakkie, as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of a crime.

The total street value of the dagga and drugs is estimated at R550 000,00.

The female suspect is originally from Kwazulu-Natal and will soon be appearing in the Kimberley Magistrates’ Court.

The District Commissioner for Frances Baard, Maj Gen Johan Bean commended the SAPS members for their determination and relentless in ensuring that criminals are put behind bars and our neighborhoods are safe and secure. He also expressed his gratitude towards the community for being the eyes and ears of the SAPS in the fight against crime.
