R308k worth of dagga recovered, 7 arrested, Carnarvon

Police in Carnarvon arrested seven suspects in connection with dealing in dagga. Members were conducting vehicle checkpoint operation when they noticed a mini bus trying to take an alternative route to Brandvlei.

Police managed to stop the minibus and found 14 bags of dagga in the minibus and also in the trailer. The dagga is estimated at R308 000,00. Seven suspects (three females and four males) were immediately arrested and charged with dealing in dagga.

The driver of the mini bus tried to bribe the police and another charge was added.

The suspects are expected to appear before the local Magistrates court soon.

Meanwhile police arrested one male suspect during a road block today along N1 at Three Sisters. The suspect was arrested in connection with possession of dagga estimated at R25 000. He will appear before court soon.

The Cluster Commander of Pixley Ka Seme, Brig Nomani Adonis applauded members for their vigilance and prompt reaction.
