Almost a month after Northern Cape police seized a mammoth haul of narcotics worth over R2.7 million, the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation have detained a suspect in Kimberley.

Chibugo Ezeh aged (31) was arrested on Tuesday 11 February 2020, and subsequently made a brief appearance in the Kimberley Magistrate court on a charge of dealing in drugs.

On the 18 January 2020 the police recovered crystal methamphetamine and CAT at a house at Anderson Street, West End, Kimberley with an estimated street value of R2.7 million. No arrests were made at the time and the case was referred to the Hawks for further handling.

Further investigations by the organised crime team linked Ezeh to the crime.

His attorney handed him over to the team on Tuesday and he is remanded in custody pending his next appearance on 13 February 2020 for formal bail application.
