The sound partnership between the community and the SAPS during the festive season operations once again yielded successes when drugs worth R175 000-00 were seized during the execution of Operation Phakisa which is currently being conducted along the shore lines and coastal areas of Port Nolloth.

On 17 December 2021, the Port Nolloth Visible Policing, Springbok K9 and Public Order Policing units followed up on information of drug trafficking in the Port Nolloth area.

A courier bakkie was stopped and searched and police found 2516 Mandrax tablets and 105 grams Crystal Meth hidden inside rechargeable lights packaged in 13 boxes.

No arrest was effected however the police opened an enquiry into the matter and the investigation continues.

The Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing in the Northern Cape, Brig Hennie Janse Van Rensburg lauded the collective team effort from the SAPS members and the community.

This truly portrays partnership policing at its best and gave an effective blow to the drug trade in the Northern Cape.

We encourage the public to continue to assist SAPS and report criminal activities on Crime Stop 08600 10111 or via MySAPS App, especially during the festive season operations and beyond.
