Postmasburg Police have opened a case of inquest after the fatal injuries sustained by a 28-year-old police Constable.
It is reported that early on the morning of 6 February 2021, at about 01:05, the 28-year-old police Constable had an argument with his 30-year-old girlfriend. It is alleged the girlfriend was shot and has been admitted in Hospital for medical treatment.
The police constable later turned his official firearm on himself and was certified dead at the scene.
Motive for the incident has not yet been established and police officials are urged to seek assistance from the SAPS Employee, Health and Wellness offices if they experience relationship difficulties.
Police investigations are continuing.
