The Police in De Aar are investigating cases of kidnapping and assault after a police officer at De Aar allegedly held his wife hostage.
Both the wife (44) and husband (43) are sergeants at the De Aar SAPS Detectives.
The husband is alleged to have been keeping his wife and 4-year-old daughter hostage at their home in De Aar since 04:00 on the morning of 12 August 2020.
Police hostage negotiator intervened and the victims were eventually rescued at 14:00.
The motive for the incident is being investigated. The suspect was arrested and should be appearing in the De Aar Magistrate’s Court soon.
