NORTHERN CAPE – The swift response by members of Springbok Public Order Policing and Springbok Highway Patrol led to them intercepting four men who allegedly committed a house robbery in Kleinsee on Saturday, 12 August 2023 during which an undisclosed amount of cash was allegedly stolen.

The white Suzuki vehicle was flagged down at the Steinkopf intersection on the R382 road. The four men fled on foot into the veld and police pursued the suspects.

Police arrested the men and confiscated one 9mm pistol, two blank firing pistols, ammunition and a substantial amount of cash.

The suspects will be appearing in the Springbok Magistrates Court on charges of possession of suspected stolen goods, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. The investigation continues.

The Namakwa District Commissioner, Brigadier Schalk Andrews commended the SAPS members for their vigilance and swift reaction that ensured the arrest of the armed and dangerous suspects. Intensified blue light patrols will be enhanced on all major routes in the province in an effort to derail criminals from transporting drugs via our roads.
