The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri is assuring the residents of the greater Kimberley that the police is ready to deal with any eventuality that may arise during the planned shutdown on Thursday, 26 July 2018.

He reassures the community that there will be high police visibility throughout the city as a multi-disciplinary approach will be adopted. Various policing units as well as other security agencies will police the march.

He reiterated that a zero tolerance approach will be adopted if any private or state property is damaged, roads are barricaded or any form of lawlessness is committed.

He is appealing to the marchers to adhere and follow the identified routes and not to deviate from them.

He issued a stern warning that persons transgressing the law will be dealt with accordingly since the police has been following a smart and tactical approach when dealing with the current situation.
