KIMBERLEY – The Hartswater Regional Court handed down a 52 year prison sentence on Tuesday, 02 August 2023 to 46-year-old Joseph Tsiki for raping a 68-year-old female victim.

The court heard that on Monday, 22 February 2021, the victim was asleep in her home in Sakhile location, Pampierstad when an unknown assailant broke into her home, raped her and left with her bedding.

The court sentenced Tsiki, the accused to 20 years imprisonment for each of the 2 counts of rape, 8 years for housebreaking and 4 years for theft and all sentences will run concurrently.

The accused name will be entered in the national register for sexual offenders and is declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, applauded the Hartswarter FCS unit and praised the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Edwin Thabapelo for the meticulous investigations which secured the ultimate sentences resulting in the incarceration of the accused and his ensuring his removal from society.
