Two suspects were nabbed for dealing in drugs and another was arrested for business burglary and theft and will soon appear before the Upington Regional Magistrates’ Court.

On the afternoon of 21 January 2020, a tip-off was received about a couple who were dealing in drugs in Paballelo, Power Street.

The police reacted swiftly and searched the identified premises where they found tik and mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R3500. 00. The couple (a male and female) were arrested for dealing in drugs.

In an unrelated incident, a male was arrested when he was found in possession of stolen goods. The goods were positively identified by the shop owner and the suspect was charged with business burglary and theft.

This incident spread from the widespread looting of tuck-shops owned by foreign nationals in Paballelo recently.

The ZF Mgcawu Cluster Commander, Brigadier Jonny Besnaar commended the members for their swift reaction. He said the police will ensure that all inhabitants of the country are safe and feel safe. We as the police shall not tolerate lawlessness and acts of vandalism and public violence by members of the community and those transgressing the law will face the full might of the law.
