The Colesberg Regional Court has sentenced 28-year-old Thembalethu Bok to 25 years imprisonment for the murder of his 18-year-old girlfriend, Sinesipho Makhaza. The sentencing on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, concludes a case that began nearly a year earlier.

The crime occurred on Sunday, 01 December 2024, when police in Colesberg responded to a scene at a house in the Masiphakame area of Kuyasa. There, they discovered the lifeless body of Sinesipho Makhaza. Preliminary police investigations indicated the victim had sustained burn wounds.

Following the incident, the suspect, identified as Bok who was the deceased’s boyfriend, fled the scene. However, acting on information received, police swiftly tracked and arrested him on the same day. The accused made several court appearances leading up to the finalization of the case.
