KIMBERLEY – The SAPS management welcomes the life sentence handed down to Kabelo Boikie Tlhaganyane, aged 45, for rape of a 19-year-old mentally challenged woman on 25 December 2014 at Ga-Hue village, Dithakong in Bothithong.

On 31 July 2023, the Mothibistad Regional court convicted and sentenced the then 45-year-old accused Kabelo Boikie Tlhaganyane to life imprisonment. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be entered in the National Register for Sex Offenders.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola applauded the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Matshidisho Boikanyo for his thorough and meticulous investigation that led to the conviction and sentencing of the accused. She also indicated that children and vulnerable groups of society needs to be protected at all times.

And further indicated that the police are duty-bound to protect all victims and to remove perpetrators of gender-based violence and femicide from communities.
