A 30-years-old man, Elrico Coetzee, was convicted for the murder of his girlfriend, Petronice Vilander (18) on 31 May 2022.
On 1 July 2021, the couple were together when an argument broke out between them and Elrico stabbed the deceased on her neck with a knife. The emergency services declared her dead on the scene.
The Regional Court of Upington sentenced Elrico Coetzee to 12 years’ imprisonment and he was declared unfit to possess a firearm.
