The Northern Cape SAPS Provincial Organised Crime Detectives, Gauteng Crime Intelligence and Johannesburg Metro police followed up on information regarding recent house robbery in Kimberley.

Three adult males were arrested in Johannesburg recently and appeared in court on 24 January 2022. The case was postponed for Friday, 28 January 2022 for a formal bail application.

Police also confiscated a Ford Ranger bakkie as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of crime. Anyone with information can call D/ Lt Col Doggie Magugu on 082469 0578.

The house robbery occurred in Moghul Park on Monday, 20 December 2021.

It is alleged that the owner and his wife were woken up at about 08:00 by five robbers, 4 males and a female.

The robbers had firearms and severely assaulted the couple before tying them up. They took the owner’s firearm and a substantial amount of cash from the safe and fled the scene.

The neighbourhood watch and the suspected robbers got involved in a crossfire. One male robber (35) and a female (30) bystander were injured during the crossfire which occurred in the street, close to the premises.

Both the injured parties were transported to hospital for medical treatment however the male suspect later passed on. One other 24-year-old female suspect was arrested.

Police also opened an inquest docket into the death of the 35-year-old male and no arrests have been effected as yet. The investigation continues.
