On 25 March 2021, the Sutherland Regional Court sentenced Jan Malouw (35) to 10 years direct imprisonment for housebreaking and theft.

On 27 December 2019, Malouw was found in possession of suspected stolen laptop, designer sunglasses and toiletries. Further investigations revealed that, the items were stolen during a housebreaking at a Middelfontein farm near Sutherland.

Malouw gained entry to the premises by breaking open the burglar bars of the windows.

During the trial it was discovered that the suspect has nine previous convictions of housebreaking and theft and that he was still on parole.

The SAPS Provincial Management in Northern Cape applauded the Investigating officer, Sergeant Klein for his hardwork and dedication in ensuring that Malouw stays behind bars.
