The Pixley Ka Seme District Management has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of 25-year-old Siphiwe Mhlalwa by the De Aar Regional Court.

On 7 February 2021 at 22:00, Mhlalwa went to the home of a 27-year-old woman in De Aar, where he forced her into a bedroom and raped her. Two persons inside the house heard the noise and came to the victim’s aid. The suspect refused to leave, claiming that the pair were still in a relationship. The two witnesses then pulled the accused off the victim.

The victim reported the incident to the police, leading to Mhlalwa’s arrest on 8 February 2021.

On Tuesday, 5 May 2026, the court found Mhlalwa guilty of rape and sentenced him to eight years imprisonment. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
