The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri applauded the National Prosecuting Authority and the Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Lucky Malepe for showing diligence in investigation and prosecution by ensuring that the stepfather is served with a harsh jail term for raping his 10 year old step daughter

“The rule of Law should instil the common sense of morality back into the society, where women and children shall live without fear, of being raped and abused. Long jail sentences including life imprisonment, hoping that it shall serve as a deterrent to criminals and crimes against women and children should be condemned in strongest terms” says Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri.

Earlier this last week the Groblershoop Regional Court handed the stepfather a 20 years jail term for raping his 10 year old stepdaughter. He raped the girl repeatedly between the year 2014 and 2015. He was arrested 2015 after the girl reported the matter to her grandmother.

The investigating officer worked tirelessly to link the accused to the case, of which forensic investigation also assisted in ensuring that the stepfather was convicted and sentenced.
