The Pofadder Regional Court sentenced 38-year-old Wessels Gary Kock to 10 years of direct imprisonment on June 10, 2026, for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Two years of the sentence are suspended for five years, conditional upon Kock not being convicted of assault GBH during the suspension period. The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm in terms of Section 103(1)(g) of Act 60 of 2000.

The conviction stems from an incident on December 3, 2024. Kock unlawfully entered his ex-girlfriend’s home through a window while she was asleep with her children. He stabbed the victim multiple times in the upper body until she lost consciousness, after which she received medical assistance.
