The ZF Mgcawu District Commissioner, Brigadier Johnny Besnaar welcomed a sentence of 12 years imprisonment handed down for murder on Thursday, 3 September 2020, by the Regional Court of Upington.

On 2 July 2007, the body of Sarah Blaauw (28) was found at Tirisano farm where she was working. The deceased had a wound on her head and a brick covered with blood was found on the scene. Marius Kupido (43) who was the boyfriend of the deceased was the last person to be seen with her the previous day.

Kupido had left the farm and the police were looking for him. He was later arrested and linked to the scene.

Kupido was out on warning and he failed to reappear in court. He came on the list of most wanted persons and was later rearrested. He pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Warrant Officer Stephen Roos was commended for working tirelessly in ensuring that the case is concluded and that justice is served.
