Man arrested, dealing in marine living resources, Kimberley

On 02 June 2018, a joint operation by Kimberley detectives, Crime Intelligence and Trio Crime Task Team and Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries led to the arrest of a 34 year old man after being found in possession of different marine items.

Police received information and a search warrant was obtained for the identified premises.

The premises was used as a shop, run by a 34 year old male and was subsequently searched upon which, abalone and deep rock lobster were recovered.

The shelled abalone weighd 8.20kg and is estimated to R50 000.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear before Kimberley Magistrates Court on 4 June 2018.
