The Diamond Pavillion and the North Cape malls have evacuated and staff have been sent home. Stores at both malls are closed and the parking area is deserted.

Several roads in the city centre are unpassable and rocks and pieces of smashed cement rubbish bins have been strewn across the road.

In Dutoitspan Road in front of the Kimberley Hospital, the road has been blocked after protesters threw the large decorative vases from the middle island into the road. Lyndhurst Road was also blocked as well as several roads in Galeshewe.

In the city centre, shop windows have been smashed, while at the Civic Centre and the Information Centre the windows of several cars were broken. Two policemen have sustained injuries after they were hit by flying stones while the window of a police vehicle was also smashed.

It is rumoured that a child was shot by the police and taken to hospital for medical treatment but this has not yet been confirmed.

A fire has also been reported at the Recreation Hall in Galeshewe. However, rumours and reports on social media that the municipality building has been set alight are not true.
