In our continuous efforts to fight drug related crimes and rid our communities of drugs, the Francis Baard Task Team in Kimberley has on Friday 8 March 2019, arrested four suspects in different incidents for dealing in drugs.

In the first incident, the team was doing patrols when they noticed a suspicious vehicle and upon approaching it, the driver sped off. A chase ensued and the vehicle was eventually stopped and upon conducting a search of the vehicle, dagga was found.

Further investigation led the members to the house of the suspect where 53g of Khat, 1.8g of rock, 2g dagga and an undisclosed amount of money were discovered. The drugs confiscated are estimated to the street value of R19 000. The woman found in the house was also arrested.

Both suspects aged 30 and 37 are expected to appear before the local court soon on a charge of dealing in drugs.

In another incident, the Task Team followed up on information about drug peddling at Indian Center Market. Two male suspects were arrested after dagga worth R700 and an undisclosed amount of money was found in them. The suspects aged 39 and 40 will be appearing before Kimberley Magistrates’ Court soon.

Police investigations continue.
