Kimberley man gets 4 years imprisonment for sexual assault

On 20 November 2020, the Galeshewe Regional Court found 34-year-old Simon Ndwalaza guilty for sexually assaulting a 49-year-old woman. The incident took place on 30 November 2019, at Kagisho in Kimberley.

Ndwalaza entered the victim’s shanty and grabbed her from behind trying to rape her. The victim managed to run away and report the matter to police. Ndwalaza was found at another nearby shanty and was arrested. He was found in possession of a self-made panga, a condom and dagga.

A thorough investigation conducted by Sergeant Tanya Serfontein of Galeshewe FCS Unit led to the conviction of Ndwalaza as follows; six months imprisonment for trespassing, six months imprisonment for assault common, six months imprisonment for possession of dangerous weapon and four years for sexual assault.
