K9 unit continues to clamp down on drug dealers, Kimberley

Kimberley K9 unit members under the command Lieutenant Colonel Masoabi Damane once again netted a success on the morning of 19 May 2020, at 09:00 when they arrested a 27-year-old man from Lerato Park in Makapane street. The members were busy conducting lockdown crime prevention duties.

The members received information about the suspect and reacted when they stopped and searched him and found him in possession of mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R1 200-00.

The suspect will soon appear in the Kimberley Magistrates court.

In an unrelated at 10:25, police continued their duties and followed up on information regarding drugs at the Dingaan hostels in Galeshewe.

A 29-year-old male was busy flushing mandrax tablets down the toilet when the police entered his house. They were able to seize some of the mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R1 740-00 and cash amounting to R1 678-40 believed to be the proceeds of the sale of the drugs.

The suspect was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs and will soon appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s court.

The group leader, Brigadier Nicky Mills commended the members for their continuance commitment and perseverance in removing drugs from the streets.
