Jan Kempdorp rapists slapped with 8 years direct imprisonment sentence

The Hartswater Regional Court recently imposed an 8 year imprisonment sentence on Adam Motabogi (21) and Macdonald Sewedi (22) for raping a 52 year old female victim in Jan Kempdorp on Tuesday, 22 November 2016.

The Court heared that the victim was at the Jan Kempdorp dumping site collecting wood and recycling tins when the two suspects, who were minors at the time of the incident, assaulted, stabbed and raped her repeatedly.

The suspects were linked through DNA.

The accused names will be entered in the national register for sexual offences and are declared unfit to possess a firearms.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, welcomed the sentence and commended the Hartswarter FCS Detective Sergeant Sidwel Dastile for the meticulous investigation of the case and securing a conviction.
