Illicit cigarettes and tobacco products confiscated, Upington

The police in the ZF Mgcawu District inclusive of Upington Border Police, Upington K9 Unit and Covid-19 relief-C executed search warrants at two shops on Tuesday, 11 August 2020.

The shops were allegedly dealing with cigarettes and illicit tobacco products which is in contravention with the Disaster Management Act. Tobacco products to the value of R225 000.00 were seized and the three shop attendants were arrested.

The District Commissioner of the ZF Mgcawu, Brigadier Johny Besnaar applauded the members and encouraged them to continue to enforce the regulations during this period of lockdown.
