On 11 December 2020, the Provincial SAPS Crime Intelligence Unit, the Douglas SAPS Designated Police Officer (DPO) followed up on information of alleged illicit dealings in alcohol.
The team was assisted by Brand Protectors such as DIAGEO SA and Distell. A liquor outlet was raided and found dealing in illicit alcohol which was meant for exporting to other countries. No excise duties were paid and it was found that labels and bottle caps were tampered with.
Police confiscated approximately R160 000 worth of alcohol and the one male suspect should be appearing in the Douglas Magistrates Court soon. The investigation continues.
