Members of the SAPS Group C are not compromising but rather continuing to enforce the regulations of level 4 of the Disaster Management Act during Covid-19 operations.
On Saturday, 30 May 2020 at about 07:00 during routine crime prevention patrols by Kimberley SAPS Search and Rescue Team, Kimberley K9 Unit and Kimberley SAPS Visible Policing unit, they received information of a house breaking in progress. The owner of the house caught the alleged house breaker red-handed, managed to lock him up in one of the rooms and contacted police and local security.
The suspect was ultimately arrested and police found several valuables packed ready for the taking. Goods such as a car battery, a gate motor, car radio, 2 cellphones and clothes were retrieved by the SAPS and security. Further investigations revealed that the suspect also allegedly broke into the next-door premises, therefore police opened cases of house breaking and theft and possession of suspected stolen goods.
Group C also had great success at a Vehicle Check Points in Galeshewe where 299 vehicles and 514 persons were stopped and searched and several traffic fines were issued. Patrols in the CBD, malls, shopping centres and residential areas were also at the order of the day.
The SAPS Management hereby lauded members and the community for superb teamwork. This once again shows that partnership policing works.
