Home invasion, four minor boys brutally assault, rob man (71), Kenhardt

Police in Kenhardt are investigation a house robbery after four minor boys were arrested for their alleged involvement in this criminal act.

On Tuesday, 26 June 2018 at about 15:30 the four boys, aged between 14 and 16 entered the house of the 71 year old man in town and threatened him with a hammer and other dangerous weapons. They allegedly choked him with a rope and tied him to a chair before fleeing with car keys, house keys, money and alcohol.

A neighbour alerted the police, after suspecting something suspicious next door.

The Kenhardt Police followed up on information and managed to arrest the four minors in Donkerhoek, Kenhardt. Upon further investigation police found the VW Golf of the victim inside his yard already packed full of groceries, allegedly to be taken at a later stage.

Police also found the alcohol, house and vehicle keys with the suspects.

The minors are currently in custody and will be assessed by social workers today.

The investigation continues.
