A 28-year-old man is expected to appear in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 21 September 2021 on a charge of rape. It is alleged that at approximately 04:00 on Monday, 20 September 2021, the suspect forcefully gained entry into the victim’s home and raped her.
The victim (31) was sleeping in her bedroom when the suspect broke the window to gain entry.
The victim screamed for help and her mother came to her rescue. The suspect fled the victim’s room but was traced and arrested by members of Batlharos SAPS, Kuruman FCS and the Provincial Investigation Unit in Matlhobolo Section, Batlharos.
The Northern Cape Provincial Head of the FCS unit, Brigadier Nicky Mills applauded the team for their swift response and arrest of the suspect.
