Home invader rapist sentenced to 10 years, Galeshewe

The SA Police Service in the Northern Cape welcomes the sentencing that was handed down to a Galeshewe man for rape. Olebogeng Moganise (26) was sentenced to ten years effective imprisonment on 30 April 2019, in the Kimberley Regional Court.

On 28 October 2017 at approximately 21:00, the accused entered the victims house in Galeshewe, Kimberley. A 30 year old female was sleeping inside the house when Moganise forced himself on her and raped her. The accused is known to the victim hence he was arrested the same evening.

The SAPS Provincial Head for Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS), Brigadier Nicky Mills applauds D/Sgt Aretha Claasen of Galeshewe FCS for a job well done. The professional gathering of information by the investigating officer ensued that no impunity is granted to the perpetrator of this heinous crime.

The police will continue in its endeavours to ensure that everyone is and feel safe.
