The number of people who died in an inferno that erupted at a guest house in Witdraai has risen to eight. The eight victim succumbed to burn wounds at a hospital in Cape Town.
Witdraai police have opened an inquest docket into the death of the eight persons who died after a holiday resort apartment burned down in the early hours of Sunday, 17 August 2020.
Among the eight are five children and three adults. One is receiving medical treatment at Hospital in Cape Town. One child is still missing. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
The police Search and Rescue members will search for the missing child while the Fire Expert will process the scene to determine the cause of fire.
