The Frances Baard Cluster SAPS, Hartswater SAPS, K9 Units, Flying Squad and the Basic Education Department held raids at high schools in Hartswater as part of the Safer Schools programme on 5 March 2019. Police conducted random searches at two High Schools in Hartswater and confiscated a small packet of dagga, several knives and other dangerous weapons.

Members proceeded to a shack in Kutlwanong Section where a 35 year old male suspect was arrested for possession of mandrax and dagga worth approximately R1 000. Police also did a spot visit at the taxi rank and stopped and searched persons for drugs and dangerous weapons.

The Police in conjunction with the Department of Basic Education will continue with these unannounced visits at schools to ensure that learning is done in a safe and secure environment.
