HANNETJIE KRUGER (80) MURDERED IN MIDDELPOS UPINGTON, HOUSE OF 56 YEAR OLD WOMAN NEXT DOOR BROKEN INTO WITHIN HOURS.
Hannetjie Kruger (80) was attacked and clubbed to death in her home in 5 Gemsbok Avenue, Upington in the Northern Cape on Monday 16 November, 2020 at around 13:00. Marike Nel, her daughter, came across her body when she went looking for her mother. Her husband, Hendrik, was not at home at the time of the attack.

Police spokeswoman Captain Sergio Kock said Kruger had wounds to her face and neck. The area is being targeted as within a few hours after the murder of Hannetjie Kruger, her neighbour, Ansie Duvenhage (56), who lives in a security complex, also had a burglary in which mobile phones and cash were stolen.

Ansie told the media that she woke up at 04:10 on Tuesday morning 17 November and looked for her cellphone next to her bed. The phone was not there. Ansie is looking after her two young granddaughters and she went to one of them’s room to use the child’s phone to phone her own in case she misplaced it. The child’s phone was also gone. She is just 10.

There was also R600 missing from Ansie’s handbag which was standing on the counter in the kitchen. She then became aware that the house was broken into.

It is horrific to think that an intruder was in the house where a woman stays alone with 2 young girls and also next door to where an elderly woman was murdered hours before.

Analysis:

People must please not wait until they become a victim before they step up security. It is not nice to become a victim and unless people want to feel how it feels to be savagely attacked or lose a loved one they better do something. There are a lot that people can do. Install alarms and cameras, get armed response and panic buttons etc.

Also very important is to get the telephone numbers of all your neighbours and to form whatsapp groups to make communication easier.
Also join neighbourhood watches. Join Afriforum and establish a local Afriforum neighbourhood watch to form a national network to protect yourselves.

The writing is on the wall people. Our white population is aging and there will be a lot more victims unless drastic action is taken.
Don’t become an easy target.
