A Kakamas rapist received a life sentence for rape and 10 years for kidnapping at Kenhardt. The 26 year old John Bles Links was sentenced in the High Court Upington on 28 May 2019.
A case was reported during October 2018 where a 6 year old girl was kidnapped and raped. When the mother of the victim woke up in the morning, she noticed that her daughter is not with her. After unsuccessfully looking for her child, she reported the matter at Kenhardt SAPS.
Whilst her mother was at the Police station the victim arrived at home. It was then discovered that she was kidnapped during the previous night and raped by the accused who is also a relative.
The Commander at Kakamas FCS Unit, Captain Henriette Myburgh congratulated the Investigating Officer, D/Sgt Oakifile Mocumi, for his hard work in obtaining such a sentence.
