On 16 November 2020, the Pofadder FCS unit commander, Warrant Officer Anna Januarie accompanied by FCS detectives, members from Social Crime Prevention, Youth against Crime and representatives from the Department of Social Development collectively addressed gender-based violence during a visit to the Francois Visser Primary School.

The SAPS members addressed the learners on topics including bullying, how to report sexual abuse and also about their rights as children.

Various other crime prevention hints were also shared with the learners.

The Provincial Head of the FCS units in the province, Brigadier Nicky Mills provided comfort packs that were distributed among learners. These comfort packs were sponsored by the Matla a Bana foundation specifically for victims of gender-based violence.

The foundation also provide soft skills training to police officials that is needed to more effectively assist child victims and also to inform the children how to go about reporting sexual crimes perpetrated against them.

According to Brigadier Mills, FCS units will vigorously advocate against gender-based violence when conducting visits to schools and other institutions.
